FAQ

For commercial projects, we recommend Class 1 Australian hardwoods such as Spotted Gum, Iron Bark,  and Grey Box. These species are dense, durable and proven to perform in high-traffic environments. The finish will generally be dressed three sides with a sawn top for best slip resistance results.

With correct installation and maintenance, hardwood decking in commercial settings can last 40 years or more — even under constant use.

Our hardwood decking is used in jettys, restaurants, cafés, schools, apartment complexes, retail centres, boardwalks and public spaces — anywhere durability and appearance matter.

Commercial projects often use thicker profiles (e.g. 135 x 32, 145 x 45) though other custom sizes are available. We’ll recommend the best option depending on foot traffic and structural needs of the project provided by the engineer..

Yes. All LMA Timber hardwoods are responsibly harvested from either reclaimed timber or certified Australian forests. We do not supply rainforest timbers like Kwila and Purpleheart which have commonly been used in the past but are slowly being phased out due to peoples better education of timber sourcing..

Not necessarily. While foot traffic is heavier, regular oiling and cleaning will keep the deck in excellent condition. Our Installation & Maintenance Guide outlines best practice for long-term performance.

Absolutely. We specialise in supplying volume orders for commercial projects and work directly with architects, builders, and developers to ensure reliable, consistent delivery.  For example, over 2.4KM of commercial decking / planking was supplied for the Governors Bay Jetty.
